Tips For Open Casting Calls In Washington DC

Are you interested in attending casting calls in Washington DC, Georgetown, Arlington, Baltimore or the District of Columbia? No matter where you are planning on attending an event of this type, there are some tips you need to know. If you follow these tips, you will have a better chance of auditioning which is your ultimate goal. These tips are helpful for everyone, including those who wish to break into modeling or find work as a movie extra.

Casting calls are nothing more than any invitation for anyone who wants to be seen by a director or casting director. Open casting calls differ from scheduled ones in that a large number of people are likely to show up. Most likely you will have to wait in line at an open call. If the casting call is scheduled, you will need to first submit a resume, demo reel, head shot and other items prior to the big day. Know exactly what is required so you don't spend a bunch of time only to be rejected because you are not prepared.

Arrive early for open casting calls in Washington DC, MD and VA. These events are usually first come, first served. A casting director may stop the process at any time if he or she feels they have fulfilled their needs. The earlier you arrive, the more likely you are to be seen by those in charge. Once the positions have been filled, you will be sent home and miss out on your big chance. Plan for this and be at the location as early as possible to increase your chances of success.

Once you arrive at these casting calls, relax. Use any methods necessary to reduce your anxiety. Focus on what you need to do during the open casting call. Visualize it in your mind step by step and be prepared. This shows those who make the selections see how serious you are about a career in the field. They will be impressed and, even if you aren't right for their current needs, they may just call you in the future when something comes up that matches your talents.

Actors - Get Out of the Herd!

By David Patrick Green
There are a million ways to do anything...that is for sure. Unfortunately, usually one idea becomes popular and because of human laziness or the assumption that if everyone is doing it this way, it is the right way, no one bothers to try to find a new way of doing things.

By Lance Winslow

I soon found out I was a bit too tall in most cases. One of the best auditions I got called back to was for the "New Star Trek" - I had the looks they were looking for, clean-cut all American type to be the first mate, and was solid on the acting skills side, but when they put me next...

DVD Review - Sherlock Holmes Faces Death

By Joseph Bruno
Who doesn't like a taut Sherlock Holmes who-done-it movie? Of course, we were spoiled by the brilliance of Jeremy Bretts' Holmes on BBC Granada Television in the 80's and 90's, but we must not forget how compelling Basil Rathbone's portrayal of Holmes was in the 1940's, where, except for the first two movies, "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" and "The Hound of the Baskervilles," Holmes' exploits were set in present World War II time time, rather than the Victorian times of the late 1800's, when Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the memorable series.
